"Flags Over Portsmouth" -- A Docudrama on the Portsmouth Peace Treaty Summer of 1905

In the summer of 1981, an NHK television crew from Japan spent time in New Hampshire filming a mini-series about the Portsmouth Peace Treaty. The Portsmouth Peace Treaty Forum has a copy of the film, which is dubbed in English, and plans to show it at the Portsmouth Public Library (no date set yet.)

Many New Hampshire and Maine residents are in the film, among them Sherm Pridham, Sam Jarvis and Rev. Allen (retired from St. John's in Portsmouth). And thanks to a story in the Portsmouth Herald, we have heard from others involved in the production, including production assistants and members of Nevers 2nd Regiment Band of Concord, who re-enacted their role in the August 8, 1905 Welcome Parade.

According to the Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society website, the NHK crew also filmed their steam engine railroad

To ensure all those who would be interested in viewing the film know when it will be screened, the Portsmouth Peace Treaty Forum is posting images here on the site. If you can identify anyone, or if you want to know when the film will be shown, please click here to contact us.
